Today was a special day for our team at STRATIS. Our Lead Support Engineer, Martin Akram became a U.S. citizen after living here for 12 years. Martin is originally from Iraq.
“Becoming a US Citizen was one of the proudest moments of my life,” he said. “I love this country, its people, and the vast opportunities that have been afforded to me since immigrating. I originally came to the U.S. as a 14 year old, alone, and lived with an American host family in Maryland. I learned English, attended high school, and then college. After that I applied for Asylum as a Christian minority. I was then granted Permanent Residency (Green Card) for 5 years, and I became eligible to apply for Citizenship in 2017. I applied October 2017 and was Naturalized in July 2018.”
Congratulations to Martin Akram.
